The day began with a text message from my friend. She was sharing about a mutual friend of ours. It was a picture of her baby. That picture alone is a big deal. The baby was supposed to be aborted. The doctors told the mother she was to be born with a rare heart disorder. She'd already had one baby born with this disorder who died a few years ago at the age of just 13 months.
This friend of ours, we've not met. But she's become our friend through prayer. Her sister is our connection. Her sister requested prayer for her when she was newly pregnant with this baby. She said the baby would not be viable. That if she didn't die in utero, she would die at birth. To avoid either scenario, the doctors all said, "Abort."
Thankfully, this woman chose life. Thankfully, the doctors were wrong about the severity of this baby's health problems. Thankfully, God still performs miracles. Why is it that we're surprised? Why is it that every time I've prayed for her, I've said, "Your will be done, but if not..." I guess because sometimes God doesn't answer our prayers how we think He ought to. We give escape clauses to protect His character. Praise the Lord, His goodness doesn't depend on how we view Him. He is the Creator, we are the created. Who are we to question Him?
